"What an amazing experience. The staff at treasury hotel are really amazing and friendly (shoutout to Kiara), answered every question I had and even helped with getting around locally! Yitel Premium (Shanghai people's Square Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street)
"We have booked more nights initially, but our plan was disrupted by the typhoon unfortunately. Kudos to hotel to be willing to accommodate to our booking twice. Room is too dim for my liking, but housekeeping staff is helpful to my request. Convenient location that our favourite 莱莱小笼包 and 双喜甜品 is just a corner away. You just need to head down n the whole shopping street is right in front"
yihotel (Shanghai Lujiazui Riverside Center Expo Park Branch)
"A busy hotel. Clean and well maintained. Has a washer in the room. Staff very helpful and friendly. Steps away from Huangpu River. Walking distance from bus stops. Gorgeous city view from the top deck at night."
Radisson Collection Hyland Shanghai
"Excellent location on Nanjing East Road Close to metro exit 1& 4 I still can't locate the elevator on metro exit 🥲 I use Didi and bicycle most of the time Lobby on the 2nd floor Walkable to The Bund Clean & comfortable rooms Got the corner room _ big room Got free mini bar deal with beer and sodas Free ice delivery to room Bed is very comfy Bathtub in the room 🥰 Great breakfast _ wide variety Good noodles and bakery Friendly staff Fitness area is outdated Lawson just below the hotel Public bicycle at the corner"
Hotel Chalet Shanghai
Experience a cozy and modern stay in Shanghai, featuring comfortable rooms, friendly service, and easy access to local attractions and public transport.
Amara Shanghai
"The hotel could be a bit cleaner. The carpets in the room should honestly be replaced or properly cleaned, they were really dirty and gave the room a weird smell. The first room I got at check in was below what I expected for the price, and it even smelled like someone had been smoking in there or it just had not been cleaned properly. I asked to change rooms and the manager was very pleasant and helpful, a genuinely warm person. The second room was definitely better and smelled clean, even though the carpet still had noticeable stains. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and it also caters well to western tastes, so 10 out of 10 for that. The location is perfect and the staff are friendly and welcoming."
Zhongjing Hengtai Hotel (Zhenbei Road Metro Station Branch)
"Quite clean."
Youli Hotel (Shanghai People's Square)
"Great location, very convenient for exploring the city. The metro station is nearby, as well as Nanjing Road and Yu Garden (which is about 1.5 km away). The hotel was clean and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay."

It's incredibly close to the Oriental Pearl Tower, about 500m away, and right next to the Ocean Aquarium, all within walking distance. This is an older, well-established hotel, and while the facilities are a bit dated, the cleanliness is up to par. Five-star review!"

Where to Stay in Shanghai
Shanghai moves fast but still gives you moments to slow down. In the morning, locals line up at small shops for soy milk, fried dough, and steamed buns while office workers walk briskly toward metro stations. Streets near the river feel calm early on, with joggers, delivery bikes, and cafés opening their doors one by one. In older lanes, you see laundry hanging outside, neighbors chatting, and small eateries preparing noodles for lunch. As the day goes on, the city gets busier. Cars fill the roads, shops along Nanjing Road welcome shoppers, and people move between meetings, meals, and errands. By late afternoon, the light softens along the Bund, couples take photos, and friends meet for coffee or tea. At night, the skyline lights up, restaurants stay open late, and the sound of conversations mixes with traffic and music. Staying in Shanghai feels lively but manageable, with everyday scenes that make the city feel real and easy to enjoy.
